15 Dec 1969 D company on FSB Ellen. I was landing at Bien Hoa airbase. 16 Dec 1969 D company still on FSB Ellen. I was moving to Long Binh reception center. 17 Dec 1969 D company moves to Field. I was still at Long Binh. 18 Dec 1969 D company in Field. I moved to 1st Cav reception center. 19 Dec 1969 D company in Field. I was still at 1st Cav reception center. 20 Dec 1969 D company in Field. I was still at 1st Cav reception center. During this time I remember going to an outside (most everything was done outside) movie. We watched "The Green Berets" with John Wayne. I can remember the "live" movie reviews being given by the viewers. 21 Dec 1969 D company in Field. I was still at 1st Cav reception center. See Bob Hope really was there! 22 Dec 1969 D company in Field. I was still at 1st Cav reception center. I got to pull guard duty one night. I remember being issued a M-16 with LIVE ammo. (The army didn't give you live ammo in basic training as they were afraid you might shoot somebody!). 23 Dec 1969 D company in Field. I remember going to the mess hall for Christmas dinner while at the 1st Cav reception center. The dinner was great but it was really hard to get into the Christmas sprint when it is hot and humid. 26 Dec 1969 D company opens FSB Kathleen. I was still at 1st Cav reception center. 27 Dec 1969 D company building FSB Kathleen. I was still at 1st Cav reception center. 28 Dec 1969 D company building FSB Kathleen. I arrive at FSB Kathleen about an hour before D company is transported to Quan Loi for "green line duty". Just our luck we get incoming. 29 Dec 1969 D company at Quan Loi air field We were assigned to guard duty with approximately 3 or 4 people in a bunker. During this time I remember shooting M79 grenades out of the fence line just to keep awake. 30 Dec 1969 D company at Quan Loi air field While on guard duty a unit of tanks went out on a hillside just outside the wire and opened up with 20mm rounds against the side of the hill. Not shooting at anything in particular just doing it for the show. 31 Dec 1969 D company at Quan Loi air field Still doing "green line" guard duty. Since I was the "new guy" I stayed at the bunker doing guard duty while the others in our bunker went to the local NCO club. It wasn't to bad. I spent the night popping M79 rounds out past the wire. Move on to January 1970
