3/12/2025 Main Forum Down!!

Post by Gordon »

I'm working with Pair (our hosting company) to do a complete re-install of the software, they have to do this from backup tapes and it might be a few days.

I will try to keep you updated here and via email.

Thanks for your support!!

Hey Gordon, just got in a bit ago. Saw the email from Pair, the 11th is better than nothing! And BTW, I will happily pay for the backups each month. I'm me, and I get good tips. Read free money. I usually give most of it to my daughter, and would happily give some for here. Your call.

Nice that this is up too, wasn't trying to get on your case yesterday. I was hoping it wasn't something I did; I was logged into it when it went down!

Sorry you're having to go through this. Hopefully it all works out.

Don't worry about paying. We can do our own backups either with FTP or using the manual pair backup.

If and when I can get this up and running again we can discuss the methods.

I didn't get the feeling you were getting on my case. It's just one of those things that happens. I'm still not sure what happened, my guess is it was a database thing but I'm not sure yet.

I'm working through some things now and hopefully I can get those fixed.

Keep your fingers crossed.

In the mean time with have the TEST forum....

OK, fair enough. I have no problem with using FTP to back it up if that helps; I have a bit over 10TB of storage here across various devices. And manual works too, but you're right, discuss this later.

I did see the forum come up I guess about an hour ago, tried to log in... I'm gonna leave that be till I hear from you.

Mike Q has been in touch via email with me; he is certainly vested in TSS! I also can't believe how many of the members on here he knows in person. Would you have an issue if I sent him the link for here? Even just general user, but I know he would enjoy being a part of it all.

I wish I could help, but I know this is a one person job. I am pretty much sitting on my arse here all weekend (long week), and I'm going to keep the test forum open, so just holler and I'll be here!

Best of luck.

Quick update:

I finally got a great response from Pair.

It appears there were 2 instances of the forum software being placed in the wrong folder. One was a 'restore' and the other was probably placed incorrectly in the beginning.

With that and the 3rd on being the correct one, we were out of server space and there was no place to allow the database to operate any longer. They offered to do the work to fix it but the price was pretty high, so I'm in the process of doing it via FTP. It's slow but it's working.

More tomorrow.

Morning Gordon,

Yeah, saw that in my inbox this AM, might explain a lot! How did that even happen? No matter, at least there's hope on the horizon. Keeping my fingers crossed...

Right at this moment, I'm really upset with Pair (our hosting company.)

I'm downloading all of our files from their servers and going to attempt to fix the problem.

I'm getting a bit of 'run around' and so far haven't been able to see why it's a problem.

I really want this resolved by Monday!!!!
