Ok, got it sorted! And the test forum is still standing! :D
It was my 'global moderator permission's that were not set, they were set to 'never' and I set them all to 'yes", Now I can see the MCP shortcut at the top of all the sub forums and not only the board index like before.
Also have all the correct moderation tools in the drop down button below the quick reply box.

Now to try copy, split etc.
Thanks Graeme, appreciate the help so far.

Please go to my profile and 'test users permissions' and come back here and see. It may just be me doing stupid things but it still looks the same, fix did not work?

Think I've sorted it!

You didn't have the Hammer Icon at the bottom of the topic,

Neither did you have the in post icons,

So I changed the Group Settings Permissions to type Administrative Permissions,

Must be a setting in my permissions I am missing something here on the test forum
This image is from the live forums, no problem, all looks right?

Now the test forum.

A few odds and ends missing here.
Please explain the fix so I can do it myself here and get used to using permissions etc.
Thanks

This is what was behind my PM Clinton:

Hello Clinton

There doesn't appear to be an option to copy posts.

I can move the post and leave a copy in place but there needs to be a pre-existing topic to move the post into.

Or I can copy the whole topic and delete the none applicable posts.

Or I can just copy the text and start a new thread. But then it will be in my name.

What's your preferred option?

Graeme

So a single post can be moved to another topic but only to a pre-existing Topic:

I've done this before by using a new place holder Topic. Create an empty placeholder Topic, copy the post into it and then Edit the Subject.

I'm going to go play with the Split Topic option.

This post is to do a post copy from the Beginner's forum to the Your First Forum forum.

@Gordon @Graeme @Thefatkitty

there are a fair few differences between the live and test forums.
I wanted to test moving or copying this post to another sub forum, so I can copy and move the Marshall post from the mods lounge to were it needs to be.
Only on the board index page do I see the MCP, but it's only that. If I open this sub forum it is gone, on the live forums it allows me to moderate the posts by move, delete etc.
please be so kind as to explain what needs to be done to bring that feature into line with the live forum here on the test forums. i would like to try it doing the task myself, it's the best way to learn.
Also please refresh my memory on doing a backup here before changing any settings, I recall having to do that before.
thanks guys.
